New York, February 20, 2013 Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, is pleased to announce that The Journal for Nurse Practitioners (JNP), the leading source of information for practicing nurse practitioners (NPs), has been chosen as an official publication of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

AANP is a new organization formed by the merger of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Nurse Practitioners. With approximately 40,000 members, AANP serves as the largest professional membership organization for NPs of all disciplines.

AANP President Angela K. Golden, DNP, FNP-C, FAANP, said, "We welcome the addition of JNP to our extensive membership benefits. Since patients are the ultimate beneficiaries of the knowledge and skills of NPs, AANP is pleased that we now have two peer-reviewed journals available for our members."

Published 10 times a year, JNP provides a highly credible resource to help NPs stay current with the clinical and policy concerns affecting their day-to-day practice. In addition to peer-reviewed clinical articles, JNP features continuing education opportunities, opinions and commentaries on pressing legislative, regulatory, and clinical practice issues.

JNP Editor-in-Chief Marilyn W. Edmunds, PhD, NP, said, "The merger of these organizations is an important step forward in supporting NPs in practicing to the full potential of their education. JNP is pleased to be a part of this advancement and I believe the journal is a powerful platform to support NP advocacy, policy development, and dissemination of NP research."

Nina Milton, Publishing Director of Nursing Journals at Elsevier, added, "We are delighted to have this opportunity to collaborate with AANP and continue our longstanding relationship with the NP community."
