Pregnant Kate Middleton remains hospitalized due to the rare pregnancy complication hyperemesis gravidarum, and reports indicate it was her sudden and severe illness that forced the young couple to break the news not only publicly, but to the Royal Family as well.
Kate Middleton?s pregnancy follows speculation since the couple?s spring 2011 wedding, but the big reveal came far earlier than the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William would have preferred when Kate reportedly was forced to seek medical attention due to the illness.
Kate Middleton?s condition, hyperemesis gravidarum (or HG), landed her in the hospital ? and she is set to remain under observation for ?several days.?
According to ABC, it was only the bout with hyperemesis gravidum affecting Kate Middleton that prompted the sudden and unceremonious announcement of the impending arrival ? to Royal Family flak as well as the worldwide news media. The site explains that when a hospital visit became inevitable, the couple knew that the pregnancy secret could no longer remain a secret.
Kate and William, who had been visiting the Duchess of Cambridge?s parents at the time she was taken ill, raced to the hospital ? which was 50 miles from her parents? home ? and reportedly broke the news that the pregnancy had caused her to require immediate medical attention.
Royal watcher?Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, explained:
?Well they didn?t want to let it out because she?s still probably about the 10- week mark but they knew that once Kate was seen going into the hospital ? that it was going to be out of their hands and then the media would have control of the announcement.?
Sources say that Kate Middleton is not yet at the 12-week mark in her pregnancy, and many speculate that the illness may be an indicator that the young royal is expecting twins.
