ELECTRONIC INFORMATION LIBRARIAN
REGINA LIBRARY
(35 hours, 52 weeks)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Manage and coordinate the Library's electronic information resources and systems, act as vendor liaison for all manner of electronic resources and services, monitor contracts and licenses, manage the users' interactions with library resources including authentication and seamless access to full text content. Perform all systems administration functions for the library's integrated library system (ILS), and manage other library specific software. Assist library staff with computer issues, and communicate with the campus Information Technology (IT) Department staff to resolve problems and to plan and coordinate all manner of electronic information related issues. Manage the library's print and electronic serials collections, keep abreast of new and evolving technologies and make recommendations to library management, and act as point for special automation projects as required. Participate in collection development as a library liaison and provide reference services as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
?Direct, coordinate, administer, monitor, and evaluate the library's electronic information resources and systems: act as vendor liaison for electronic information; investigate, negotiate, and manage contracts and licenses with multiple vendors; manage access to data on multiple platforms; manage user authentication and access to the data; manage the linking of data at the item level across platforms; and plan for, implement, and maintain state-of-the-art search tools and interfaces. Bargain for and implement license terms and fees that are fair and in keeping with industry, national and professional standards.
?Serve as library systems administrator: perform regular systems maintenance functions; perform system and software upgrades; troubleshoot operating problems; serve as principle liaison with systems vendors, provide technical assistance to staff in systems use; provide training for library staff in the use of automated systems; develop and update procedures and manuals and related system documentation.
?Manage library specific software and tools in use for reference services, cataloging, and interlibrary loan; assist library staff with all manner of computer related issues; and communicate with the campus IT staff to resolve problems.
?Confer regularly with the Assistant Director for Technical Services, other Library staff, and College Information Technology staff to seamlessly integrate electronic information within the IT environment of the College; troubleshoot problems; perform various quality control functions to ensure the integrity of the library's resources.
?Perform professional serials functions: manage and evaluate the library's print and electronic serials collections; make recommendations on the content and mix of print and electronic resources; provide serials records management; ensure adherence to established professional serials standards; claim issues from the serials agent as necessary; coordinate check-in and stacks maintenance performed by support staff; resolve problems; process automated invoices; and act as liaison with the serial agent.
?Act as subject specialist collection development library liaison for one or more content areas; confer with faculty to assess needs; make selections in appropriate formats; and make de-selection decisions as appropriate.
?Oversee/carry out the collecting and compiling of library statistics pertaining to assigned functions. Prepare related administrative/operations reports.
?Provide some reference desk coverage.
?Participate in a limited role in the library instruction program for patrons.
?Assist with special library projects such as shelf reading, inventories, faculty scholarship events and library programming.
?Participate with other staff on the library's presence on social media sites.
?Work with other library staff to update and edit the library web pages.
?Plan and coordinate research & development and special automation projects in accordance with the needs articulated by Library management: analyze needs and challenges; investigate options; recommend new automated products & services, coordinate overall strategy and timetables, plan workflow and operating procedures, and the like.
?Confer with immediate supervisor, other library staff and various University faculty, staff, and students to plan, coordinate and evaluate services/projects/systems, exchange information, resolve problems, and the like. Serve on University committees as assigned.
?Keep abreast of current developments and trends in the field. Attend various professional meetings, webinars, trainings, and conferences
?Participate in other tasks within the Technical Services Department as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
?An MLS from an ALA accredited program, a minimum of one to two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
?Experience with library systems and/or electronic information management is strongly preferred. Experience with web 2.0 applications, web editing, web analytics and computer/IT proficiency or education preferred. Must be self-directed, well-organized, able to meet deadlines and multiple demands, and have a high level of commitment to customer service.
?The ability and willingness to support the mission of the University, in all daily activities.
