10 Fun Games to Spice up your Baby Shower | Her Caribbean

baby-showerThe impending birth of a friend or family members baby is exciting for everyone. The American tradition of the baby shower is a fantastic way to share in the excitement. So, if your friend or family member is due soon why not throw them a baby shower?

You can now buy online all the baby shower decorations and party supplies you will need. Simply add a few ?ooohs? and ?ahhhs? and you have the perfect party.

For a little inspiration here are a few ideas:

Food and Drink

There are so many great ideas when it comes to food and drink for a baby shower. Virgin cocktails are a great way to enjoy a sophisticated drink, minus the alcohol for the mum-to-be.?Perhaps the mum-to-be has not yet shared the sex of the baby? If she already knows it then another tradition is to have the ?cake coloured in blue or pink. So once everyone slices into it they will see whether the new-born baby is a girl or a boy!

Cupcakes are also another ideal baby shower treat. Whether you order these in or decorate them yourself, they can be the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon tea. Many online party stores now stock a huge range of dedicated baby shower party accessories such as tableware, cake stands, invitations and banners and decorations for your home or party venue.

Why not buy 10 pots of baby food, remove the labels and have a blind food testing competition, whoever guesses the most correct flavours is the winner.

The Pamper Party

The mum-to-be is probably experiencing sore feet, feeling tired and generally a bit overwhelmed. Why not plan a pamper afternoon? You can encourage everyone to come in comfy clothes and hire a beauty therapist to come over and give manicures, pedicures and massages.

Baby Grow Painting

Another great baby shower game is to set up a table with paints and decorations. Give everyone a baby grow and ask them to decorate them. Make sure that the paints and decorations are washable. You can often buy kits that come with everything.

Give all the baby grows to the mum-to-be before she leaves. She will never be short come nappy-change time!

Quiz Time

Gather everyone into teams and design a quiz around baby-related themes. You can give prizes for?the winner! You could also run a sweep to guess the name of the baby, write all the names you?have for the baby on a piece of paper and put them in a box, however draws the eventual name of?the baby wins a bottle of wine or similar gift.

Gift Time

Whether you all club together for a present or provide individual gifts it is the ideal time to give the mum-to-be some practical gifts. Ideas could include a pampering spa voucher for after the baby is?born, clothes, nappies, blankets and toys. Other great ideas include vouchers for a more personal touch such as ?offering to cook dinner? or a ?babysit coupon?.

These ideas are free but will be greatly appreciated once the baby is here.

Baby Photo Quiz

Ask everyone to bring a photo of themselves as an adult and a baby, mix them all up and everyone takes turns in matching the adult to the phot of them as a baby.

Bring Along

Ask all the mums and dads to bring along their old unwanted kids clothes, these could be anything from baby grows to nappies(diapers) and creams or even blanket?and soft toys. It?s surprising how the stories and laughter starts flowing when old clothes and toys are dusted off.

Guess the Baby Item

Place 10 baby items in a bag, such as dummy (pacifier), nappy, saftey pin, baby grow and throw in
a few toys to really make?it tricky, everyone takes a turn to pick an item from the bag and guess what it is just by touch, obviously a blind fold is?needed to stop any sneaky peeking.

What?s the Missing Word?

Write down the opening verse to 10 popular children?s nursery rhymes and leave one word missing from each, hand out a numbered piece of card to each person and ask them to identify the missing word, its not as easy as it sounds.

Baby Scramble

Write down 10-15 words associated with babies, mix all the letters up for each or use this anagram tool here. Split up into teams and try and unscramble the words, again, it?s not as easy as you think.

We hope you find these idea helpful and fun, please feel free to adapt these games and change them around to suit your guests, it?s all about having a giggle before the ?fun? really starts.
